As Republicans continue to investigate whether President Joe Biden himself engaged in criminal efforts to benefit from his position and protect his son, it has been claimed that President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, may soon face charges relating to alleged fraudulent tax deductions.
According to The New York Times, U.S. Attorney for Delaware and 2017 Trump appointment David Weiss is about to decide whether to file charges against Hunter for allegedly filing his 2016 and 2017 tax forms late and perhaps making false claims for at least $30,000 in business cost deductions.
The report looks into the alleged illegal and improper conduct of the president’s son as well as how prominent conservatives are attempting to connect the president to his son’s acts.
Investigators have discovered evidence of conversations between Joe Biden and his son about the younger Biden’s business transactions, such as when the president contacted his son to wish him luck after learning of his board position at Burisma.
The complete range of investigations, according to the report, have not yet provided Republicans with the smoking evidence they are seeking.
For instance, Weiss appears to be considering charging Hunter with more offenses, this time for falsifying information on federal paperwork necessary for the purchase of a firearm in the United States in 2018.
If there were eyewitnesses, his denial of drug usage might be brought into question, but such a charge is rarely pursued unless it is added to a more thorough investigation.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Delaware has reportedly never requested a separate gun prosecution for lying about drug use, according to data submitted by Hunter’s counsel to the Justice Department, according to the New York Times.
The president’s contentious son may be charged with further offenses, some of which include his alleged drug use. Hunter reportedly received a warning from Bill Morgan, his accountant, on October 12 that he owed more than $800,000 in back taxes for the 2017 tax year. On the same day, Hunter bought the gun.
The next month, Morgan made another attempt to get Hunter’s attention by reminding him that both he and Hunter had to file their 2016 tax forms. Hunter’s passport renewal had been asked to be refused by the Internal Revenue Service due to unpaid tax liens, Morgan informed him.
Hunter, according to the journal, was unable to be charged with tax evasion because he borrowed the necessary $2 million and paid the IRS the exact amount he owed.
Republicans now have more evidence to use against the president in their effort to incriminate and impeach him, even if some of the accusations against him may be challenging to prove in court.
Hunter’s connections to the governments of China and Ukraine are widely known; for instance, he is on the board of the Ukrainian oil company Burisma and once owned stock in a company with ties to the Chinese government. Although it has been challenging to find evidence of such interactions with the president directly.
According to sources, Vadym Pozharskyi, Hunter’s contact at Burisma, thanked Joe Biden Jr. in halting English in 2015 for “giving an opportunity to meet your father and spend some time together.” Additionally, the Republican Party has made an effort to link the president to a Chinese energy tycoon (whom Hunter was involved in a failed business venture with). The “big man” would receive 10% of the company, according to a proposal made during the business venture’s discussions.
Just hours after Rep. James Comer (R-KY), the newly elected Republican chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, demanded that the Treasury Department turn over all suspicious activity reports relating to the president’s son, new information about Weiss’s investigation of Hunter surfaced.
Only the U.S. Attorney’s Office currently knows whether or not criminal charges will be brought in relation to the recently found facts concerning Hunter’s tale of abuse, loss, and failure. It’s obvious that the spotlight on Hunter’s head is not good news as President Obama considers running for reelection while under severe scrutiny for his handling of sensitive material.
