A MASSIVE Auto Recall Has Taken Place, Nearly A Quarter Million Vehicles Impacted….

Ford Motor Company is recalling some 2004 to 2006 Ranger vehicles due to possible erroneous installation of new front passenger airbag inflators.

The recall affects 231,942 automobiles, according to a letter from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

A prior recall had resulted in the vehicles receiving replacement front passenger airbag inflators.

According to the NHTSA, an improperly placed inflator may fail to adequately fill the passenger air bag, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

If necessary, dealers will examine and replace the front passenger airbag inflator at no cost.
On May 22, owners of impacted automobiles should get notification letters.

Owners of Ford vehicles can contact customer care at 1-866-436-7332 or the NHTSA’s vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).

A day earlier, BMW advised owners of approximately 90,000 older vehicles in the United States not to drive them due to an increased risk that the airbags may detonate in a crash.

The recall applies to vehicles from the 2000 to 2006 model years that were previously recalled to replace faulty and hazardous Takata airbag inflators.

In an accident, the business employed volatile ammonium nitrate to inflate the airbags. However, when exposed to heat and humidity, the chemical can deteriorate and burst apart a metal canister, throwing shrapnel that can harm or kill drivers and passengers.

Takata’s exploding airbags have killed at least 33 people worldwide since 2009, including 24 in the United States.

The majority of the deaths and approximately 400 injuries occurred in the United States, but they also occurred in Australia and Malaysia.
