Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has had a difficult start to the year, and the news didn’t get any better on Saturday.
His primary polling numbers have plummeted as a result of vicious attacks on his record and dubious claims about President Donald Trump’s prosecution on spurious “financial fraud” allegations. According to the most recent polls, Trump now has a 31-point advantage against DeSantis.
We learned a few weeks ago that some funders thought DeSantis should skip this year’s presidential election, pointing to the 2024 election.

Now, potential funders are abandoning DeSantis at a time when he desperately needs money for a presidential campaign.
According to the Daily Mail, Hungarian-born billionaire Thomas Peterffy declared he and his pals were “keeping their powder dry” on the Florida governor’s possible White House run. Peterffy earlier stated that he was excited to support DeSantis for President.
I have put myself on hold.
I am more reluctant to back him. We are waiting to see who among the primary candidates is most likely to be able to win the general, and then put all of our firepower behind them.
