9yo Sees Cop Eating Alone. Pays For His Meal And Leaves Inspiring Note On Receipt

With all the public rhetoric on both sides of the aisle, it is sometimes hard to remember that police officers are just human beings like the rest of us.

Well, we just found a wonderful story, thanks to Inside Edition, about a young boy who decided to do something nice for a police officer recently, and his story is burning up the internet. You are going to melt when you see what this boy did.

This past Thursday morning, nine year old Noah Cantin was eating breakfast with his mother at a Denny’s restaurant in Lakeland Florida. His mom, Amanda Cantin was taking the boy to work in celebration of “Bring Your Child to Work Day.”

While they ate, Noah noticed a police officer eating his breakfast at a nearby table.

Relating the story, Amanda Cantin told Inside Edition “He said, ‘Mom there’s a police officer down there, can I go say hi?”

The boy got up and nervously approached officer Eddie Benitez, then returned to his mother and asked if they could pay for the officer’s breakfast. Ms. Cantin said yes and when the server brought the officer’s check out, Noah wrote a short note to Benitez.

His mother said “I helped him spell it.”

When the little boy handed the receipt to Benitez, the officer saw the note that read “I want to be you when I grow up. Thank you for your service.”

Ms. Cantin said “He didn’t understand why this little boy was walking down there with his tab. His face was very shocked.”

Officer Benitez asked to take a picture with the boy, and later that day, he posted that picture and an image of the kind note that the boy had written on the receipt to the Lakeland Police Department’s Facebook page, along with the following caption:

“THIS Made our Day! Let’s see how far we can share Noah’s GOOD DEED!
At Denny’s this morning, young Noah asked his mom if they could pay for an officer’s breakfast. You see he had his own money that he recently received for his birthday. His only request was to write a note on the receipt for the officer.
The note read:
‘I want to be you when I grow up. Thank you for your service.’ Officer Benitez was so touched by the eight year-old’s act that he had to get a photo and personally thank him. Well Noah you touched all of our hearts today. Your support means so much to all of the men and women who put on the uniform everyday. We wish you the happiest of Birthdays! (Noah turns the BIG 9 this Saturday!). Thanks to mom Amanda for sharing the story.”

When Inside Edition talked to Noah about the gesture, he said “I’m going to make the world a better place and capture the bad guys.”

And his mother supports him fully, saying “If, ten years from now, he puts on that uniform and has that badge on, I will be one proud mom.”
