Whoopi Goldberg Stirs Up Controversy With Harsh Message For Trump

Comedian Whoopi Goldberg voiced her disapproval over President Donald Trump’s recent statements regarding his television ratings on the April 25 episode of talk show “The View.”

In an interview with The Associated Press, Trump claimed his appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation” gave the network its highest ratings “since the World Trade Center came down” on Sept. 11, 2001.

“I … seem to get very high ratings … On any [show], on air, [CBS ‘Face the Nation’ host John] Dickerson had 5.2 million people,” said Trump in the interview. “It’s the highest for ‘Face the Nation’ or as I call it, ‘Deface the Nation.’ It’s the highest for ‘Deface the Nation’ since the World Trade Center. Since the World Trade Center came down. It’s a tremendous advantage.”

But on “The View,” Goldberg criticized Trump for referencing the fall of the Twin Towers.

“You know what man, that’s sacrosanct,” Goldberg said, frustrated, to her fellow co-hosts on the show. “You don’t use 9/11 to bolster yourself. What the hell?!”

She dubbed the president’s comments “tasteless.”

Goldberg then attacked Trump’s pronouncement, in an interview he did on 9/11, that his building was now the “tallest” following the attacks that day, TooFab reports.

“This is all about his privates also, can I just say it?” co-host Joy Behar joked.

“In the words of Holden Caulfield [from ‘The Catcher In the Rye’], he’s as sensitive as a toilet seat,” Behar added. “How tone deaf can you be to brag about your ratings about that tragedy, it’s unbelievable.”

Sunny Hostin remarked Trump was “unintelligible” during the AP interview.

“I thought, ‘Why is our president unintelligible through an interview with the Associated Press?’ It didn’t make any sense.”

To wrap up the topic, Goldberg invited everyone at home to “just go get some water, open a window and cool down.”

On a show that aired earlier the same week, the Oscar winner lambasted the president for his budget priorities.

“He is not, you know, he is not thinking about, ‘OK, how do you really put money back in people’s pockets?'” Goldberg said of the business mogul, according to Raw Story.

“Well, as you know, I’m a big fan of, you know, take away that student debt. Find a way to make that student debt work for us instead of hinder people to the Nth degree, and stop taxing people who can’t take any more taxes! The middle class can’t take it!”

Goldberg’s made the comment as the panel discussed the current impasse between Democrats and Republicans over authorizing funding for Trump’s border wall, which may lead to a shutdown of government.
