This Congress will go down as the most ineffectual since the days of Franklin Pierce some 164 years ago. Now frankly, that is not necessarily a bad thing. Somewhere along the line, Congress got the erroneous idea that they are there to Regulate every aspect of American life instead of keeping regulations to a minimum thus insuring a smooth flow of commerce. So in fact, if they are not doing anything, they are not wasting money or stealing your freedoms.
But at a time when there are so many areas from National Security to the Health Care debacle that critically need attention, for both Republicans and Democrats to waste almost an entire session with infighting and deliberate obstructionism borders on an act of treason. There is much that needs to be done and very little time to do it if we are going to save our nation.
To emphasize this point to them, I urge all citizens to make sure they take at least one day during the next month to visit the local offices of their Representatives and Senators, regardless of party. We need to make it known to all them, that unless they put partisan bickering aside and support the lead of the president and function like a constitutionally elected government, they can kiss your vote goodbye in the next election. There is no time for obstructionism. They need to be reminded they took an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies both foreign and domestic and that a failure to act in the best interests of our citizens makes them enemies of that Constitution.
Your one vote may not seem like much to you, but any staffer will tell you that when a person takes the time to personally come into their office, they consider their opinion to be equal to that of between 5,000 and 50,000 votes depending on the state. It is time we demand the actions they have promised us for the last 10 years including: repeal of Obamacare, building the wall, tax cuts for all Americans and removal of all Illegal aliens from our country. It is time for them to step up and support the constitution and perform the duties they were elected to do or be thrown out.
