How is racist teacher Stacy Lockett like tomato soup? They’ve both been canned. You probably remember Lockett. She is the teacher who handed out racist awards such as the ‘Most Likely To Blend In With White People’ and ‘Most Likely to Become a Terrorist’ to her students. Other teachers received lesser punishments after the brouhaha over the awards which were viewed negatively by students and parents alike within the Channelview Independent School District, in the Houston area.
The Channelview Independent School District, in the Houston area, disclosed in a statement issued Tuesday that it had parted with the junior high school teacher.
The tersely worded statement said simply: ‘We have concluded our investigation and the teacher responsible is no longer employed by the district.’
Previously, the district had apologized for the ‘insensitive and offensive fake mock awards’ and said that several teachers had received undisclosed discipline.
The ruling came after the students spoke out about the crass awards. Sydney Caesar, 13, who received the ‘Most Likely To Blend In With White People’award said: ‘I don’t like it,’ Sydney said simply when asked by a Fox26 reporter how she felt about the ‘white people’ award.
Her seventh-grade classmate Lizeth Villanueva, also 13, had previously spoken out about her own award, ‘Most Likely To Become A Terrorist’, bestowed the day after the horror bombing in Manchester Arena in England.
Lockett has not spoken publicly about her reasoning for the awards and could not be reached for comment by DailyMail.com.
Channelview Independent School District official Mark Kramer told KPRC the award ceremony was a ‘poor attempt to poke fun’ and that the activity ‘wasn’t well thought out’.
