A toddler has been hospitalized after his mother throw the little boy down a flight of subway stairs in the Bronx as witnesses told police.

25-year-old Jessica Mixon was arrested after witnesses saw her pushing her 2-year-old son down a flight of stairs at a Bronx subway station.

Investigators believe that Mixon, was angry that her child’s father was breaking up with her. Witnesses reported hearing her screaming and arguing with the boy’s father about a breakup over the phone.

In a fit of rage, she pushed the stroller down the steps of the 149th Street and Grand Concourse Station in Melrose.

Witnesses said that at 2:30 p.m., Mixon threw the stroller with the baby strapped inside, down the flight of stairs, and she just stood there and watched her baby bleeding.

A witness said that the mother was “cursing and saying that she cannot do this anymore,” while leaning on a wall without helping her injured son.

When the boy reached the bottom of the stairs, two witnesses rushed to his aide.
John Smith, who watched it all go down, told NBC: ‘The baby was screaming. He busted his eye, and his nose was bleeding. Blood was coming out of his mouth and the back of his head was bleeding.’

Smith told police after she purposefully shoved the child, she just stood against a wall and watched. “Mixon seemed distressed and said she no longer wanted the child.”

The baby suffered cuts to the back of his head, to his eyes and face. Emergency workers took the boy to Lincoln Hospital, where he is said to be in serious but stable condition.

Mixon is now in custody and was taken to Bronx Lebanon Hospital for a psychological evaluation. She now faces charges of reckless endangerment and reckless assault on a child.
