Michelle Obama: It Was “Painful to Watch” Trump Win The Election [VIDEO]
The first lady told Oprah Winfrey that she didn’t know that Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton until the next morning when she looked at her phone.
“This past election was challenging for me as a citizen,” Obama said. “To watch and experience. It was painful.”
“So now, I ask you, what is your prayer for our country?” Winfrey said.
“It’s hope,” Obama said. “My desire for this country is that we remain hopeful and that we find a place in our hearts to love each other. It’s really simple — just opening up our hearts to others, making room.
Michelle then added that her door is always open to Melania Trump.
“My offer to Melania was you really don’t know what you don’t know until you’re here, so the door is open as I’ve told her,” she said. “I’ve told her and as Laura Bush told me and other first ladies told me…We will do whatever they need to help them succeed.”
