Interactive Map: The Best Places To View The Fall Colors and Foliage Change

Interactive Map: The Best Places To View The Fall Colors and Foliage Change

Nothing epitomizes the warm, fuzzy feeling of fall quite like the leaves changing color. This interactive map tells you when you can expect to see fall foliage in different parts of the U.S.

The tool comes from travel site The Ultimate Smoky Mountains Guide. It’s useful for travel planning but it’s also just fun to see when it’s really going to look like autumn in your area. You slide the timeline and the map changes color according to how much the leaves will change color. It will tell you if there’s likely to be minimal change in an area, partial change, if change is at its peak, or if the area’s foliage is past its peak.

That’s useful enough, but the site also includes a handful of info on autumn leaves in general. It explains why some leaves turn orange and others turn red or yellow, for example. Check it out for yourself at the link below.
