Actress Flips Off Republicans On Independence Day

Actress Flips Off Republicans On Independence Day

One Glow actress has a message for the Republican party this Independence Day.

According to Breitbart, Gilpin plays “soap opera actress-turned-wrestler” Debbie Eagan (aka Liberty Bell) in the new Netflix series GLOW, which is “set in the world of 1980s female wrestling in Los Angeles.”

Gilpin posted an image of herself Monday, in her character on the Netflix series “Glow,” giving the “finger” to Republicans, with the caption, “Liberty Bell wishing the GOP a happy 4th!”

The message was not appreciated by conservatives, and Gilpin has now taken it down. She then tweeted later, “That escalated quickly! I don’t like Trump, I love you, but if you don’t love me you totally don’t have2follow me.”

Conservatives are exercising their First Amendment right and roasting her for that too.

Damn, pissing off an audience before you are even a relevant celebrity. Not a very smart move…

Why would an actor want to lose half of an audience before their show even begins..

In the ’80s-set Netflix comedy, Gilpin stars as Debbie Eagan, a washed-up daytime soap opera actress who gets another chance at stardom when she joins the cast of a female wrestling show run by Marc Maron’s Sam Sylvia. Inside the wrestling ring, she goes by Liberty Belle, the paragon of patriotism, and her main rival is the Soviet Union-bred Zoya the Destroyer, a.k.a. Ruth Wilder (Alison Brie).

The first season largely focused on Debbie and Ruth’s fractured friendship, which executive producers Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch told EW they’ll continue to explore this friendship in a potential season 2.

“Female friendships are very, very complicated and it’s a long road. We wanted to signal that we knew that the trauma to that friendship was deep and real, and we’re excited to explore more and keep it in an authentic place,” said Flahive.
